ROM for Kirby’s Dream Land – A Perfect Game for Beginners
Kirby’s Dream Land ROM was originally designed for Game Boy and released in 1992. Little known fact; in Japan it is known as Kirby of the Stars. However, it was later re-released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. This game is the first in the Kirby series. After this game, two more sequels were released, followed by Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Currently people are downloading a free Kirby’s Dream Land ROM. That allows them to be able to take advantage of new features.
The game was first released in Japan in April of the year 1992 and in North America and Europe in August 1992.
The story starts with King Dedede who has, with his followers, stolen all the food along with the Sparkling Star, which is used for harvesting. The player is going to play as Kirby, who has to go and get the food and Sparkling Star back from the king and teach him a lesson.
The game follows a pink
fluffball-like creature called Kirby who is going to be the hero and save Dream Land from starving. It would follow him as he fights boss after boss to get to the castle of the king and retrieve all that the king has stolen.
The game is quite similar to the Mario games in regard to its graphics and gameplay.
The gameplay is quite similar to how other games of the 8-bit and 16-bit era were played. To reach the goal and win the level, the player has to jump and avoid obstacles and enemies. In addition to swimming and walking, Kirby can also fly but can’t escape the screen of the device they are playing the game on.
Due to the game being two-dimensional, players can only go left, right, up and down. The gameplay, like most of the 80s and 90s games, will give you points upon completion of the task or level. Then, after certain points have been accumulated, the player is awarded with a life.
The main technique that Kirby owns is his power to inhale his opponents and objects in his path. When there is an object in his path, he can inhale it which is then saved in his mouth. He then has to decide whether to spit it out, which damages anything in its path, or to just eat it which would destroy the item altogether. If you come across any food object, you can swallow it which heals Kirby in the case of any damage that he has attained. However, in the future games, Kirby can also get the power of his opponents by swallowing them. Sadly this game does not have this feature.
Even though it might be lacking the phenomenal updates that the future versions of the game had, it is essential to remember that the concept such as eating and flying in a platformer was relatively new in the early 90s. This is probably why the game became so popular then.
There are basically five levels to win the game, the last being confronting the king. The first level, Green Greens, is played on grasslands and forest. Castle Lololo, the second level, is to be played in a haunted castle. The third level is to be played on an island, the level being called Float Island. This also includes caverns and pirate ships. The next level is played on clouds, called Bubbly Clouds. The last level is played in the castle of King Dedede. All previous levels had bosses which have to be fought and defeated before the player gets to fight the king.
